Known locally as the Seriema, the Cariama Cristata is a large, predatory bird that inhabits the interior of Brazil. Its diet consists of a large range of small animals, including grasshoppers, beetles, rodents, lizards, frogs, and birds. It is famous for being one of the few species that will eat the venomous coral snake. This bird has a distinctive song, or call, described as a cross between the serrated bark of a young dog and the clucking of turkeys. At the loudest part of the song, the bird has its neck bent so its head is touching its back.
